Welcome to Thistlemarc Farm Miniature Horses
We are happy to welcome you to our
website.
As you’ve noticed, our name is just like
thistlemark only it ends with a "c" instead of a "k".
Our Scottish heritage warmed us to the
thistle. As we researched possible names we discovered that "marc" is the
Gaelic word for horse; thus Thistlemarc Farm.
Thistlemarc
Farm is a small miniature horse farm dedicated to breeding quality miniature
horses. We are members with both miniature registries: the AMHA and the AMHR.
All of our stock have regular hoof trimmings, worming, and are up to date on
all vaccinations, including West Nile.
Our goal is to produce miniature horses
with excellent conformation and temperament. While bloodlines and pedigrees
are important to us we also pay close attention to each individual thus
enhancing our breeding program and enabling us to produce and promote the
best possible miniature horses. This philosophy has proven successful for
us.
Our first two years showing in AMHR have
been very exciting, many thanks to our trainer Michelle McKenzie of Majestic
Farm Training Center. In 2001, in each show entered, our aged mare Ribbon
took first or second in her aged mare class as well as champion or reserve
champion senior mare. Ribbon finished the 2001 show season by placing 4th
in the nation at AMHR Nationals.
In the 2002 show season Ribbon repeated
her first or second place performance in the aged mare classes and champion
or reserve champion places in the senior mare classes. We were elated when
Michelle called to tell us that Ribbon had been awarded Grand Champion Mare
at the Area 5 Championship in Claremore, Oklahoma. Imagine our excitement
when Ribbon was awarded a third place at the 2002 AMHR Nationals!
Ribbon had just become a two time,
national top five ranked mare!!!
Although Ribbon will be coming home to
produce her own champion offspring we have weanlings ready to follow in her
hoofprints.
You can see Ribbon and all our other
equine friends as you look through these pages.
